Special interests and big money have long held more power in Washington than everyday Americans.
But Donald Trump is taking this to the next level.
He’s shredding even the weak norms that past presidents followed by:
- Funding his transition team with private money and refusing to disclose its donors1
- Openly asking the oil industry for $1 billion to fund his campaign, promising favorable policies in return2
- Naming the world's richest Elon Musk to head up DOGE where he weighed in on federal government restructuring3
- Accepting lobbyist donations for his inaugural committee, a departure from the precedent set by previous presidents, including himself4
- Raising a record $170 million of private money for his inauguration, almost three times as much as other recent presidents5
- Soliciting $70,000 - $200,000 corporate sponsorships for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll6
- Taking pledges of $5 million or more from companies like Google, Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen, Palantir, and more to construct a $200 million ballroom on the grounds of the White House7
These examples of big money influence and blatant conflicts of interest are the outcome of a political system that is broken, corrupt, and failing the American people.
We’re here to make sure the government works for the people, and we are committed to calling out corruption where we see it.
