URGENT: You could soon lose your right to vote.
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) says its purpose is to protect voters, but the onerous voter ID regulations it contains means millions of Americans would lose the right to vote.
- The SAVE Act would require Americans to provide a birth certificate, passport, or other citizenship document to register or re-register to vote1.
- State issued REAL IDs would not be considered valid, even though it requires proof of citizenship to obtain. Neither would a drivers license, military ID, or tribal ID.
- And people who have changed their names (including married spouses) won’t be able to use their birth certificate to prove their citizenship2.
This legislation doesn’t make our elections safer; it simply makes it harder for millions of American citizens to vote.
