Salem, Ore. - RepresentUs, America’s leading anti-corruption organization, applauds yesterday’s historic passing of HB2004 in Oregon, which will put Ranked Choice Voting for federal and statewide races on Oregon voters’ 2024 ballot.
Oregon is the first state to pass statewide Ranked Choice Voting through a legislative-initiated bill. If approved by voters in 2024, Oregon will be the largest state in the country to implement it.
“This victory in Oregon is a win for the American people and marks the beginning of a new era for giving more power to voters in the state and in the country. Real change only happens when a group of motivated and passionate people work together. That’s exactly what happened in Oregon,” said Joshua Graham Lynn, co-founder and CEO of RepresentUs. “I’m proud of the tireless work that our team and Oregon RCV put into this victory as it will help propel more activists forward in their efforts to make Ranked Choice Voting the standard in their state.”
RepresentUs worked with the Oregon RCV coalition which includes partners like the Coalition for Communities of Color, the League of Women Voters of Oregon, Oregon ACLU, Oregon AFSCME Council 75, and others to make Oregon the next place to implement Ranked Choice Voting statewide.
