FLORENCE, MASS (August 1, 2019): RepresentUs, the nation’s leading right-left anti-corruption organization, has named Janice Periquet as their new Vice President of Development.

With over twenty-five years of experience in all areas of fundraising from annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and volunteer management, Janice will lead the development program at RepresentUs into its next phase of expansion and growth. As Vice President of Development and a member of the Executive Team, Janice will expand existing RepresentUs development programs including the Founding Family major gifts program and The Common Wealth, a small-dollar monthly giving program that directly supports campaign field efforts, and enact new programs and policies around transparent giving and grassroots fundraising.

“We are thrilled to welcome someone with Janice’s executive experience into the fight for a government that works for every American,” said Josh Silver, Co-Founder and Director of RepresentUs. “Janice’s experience will support the resourcing of people-powered anti-corruption campaigns across the country, and her impressive program leadership will be a critical factor in the continued growth and success of the democracy reform movement.”

Most recently, Janice worked at The Nature Conservancy for nearly a decade, heading up fundraising for the North Carolina Chapter before moving to Principal Gifts to run philanthropy for Global Cities and working with the Asia Pacific region. Well versed in planning and executing capital campaigns, she has been part of three $1B+ fundraising campaigns.  Recruited to run NC’s program, she launched the Our World campaign for $100M and left the Chapter after having met 73% of the goal in three years. Her work on blended solicitations and the integration of major and planned gifts is recognized throughout TNC as best in practice.  Equally significant is her known ability to mentor and coach executive leaders and fundraising staff on donor strategy approaches that are donor-driven, collaborative and effective.

“The growing appetite for democracy reform is a testament to the leadership RepresentUs has brought to the movement over the past seven years,” said Janice Periquet. “What brought me to RepresentUs is the realization that every issue for which I have ever raised money or cared about---civil rights, public health or the environment---can’t move forward until we address the root cause of the problem: corruption in our government. I am honored and excited to get a front seat to change and have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to building a national movement powered by the people. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Janice began her development career working for the NC Humanities Council, a statewide non-profit and the state affiliate for the National Endowment for the Humanities.  In 2003, she joined the development staff of the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as director of alumni affairs and the annual fund.  Thereafter, she held a succession of development positions that culminated in her appointment as assistant dean for development at UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Law. Periquet received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
