In 2024, we set an ambitious goal: to reach more Americans than ever before, open their eyes to the corruption in our government, and inspire them to rise up, join the movement, and enact powerful anti-corruption laws nationwide. It worked.
With the help of our volunteers, donors, and partners, we made remarkable progress in our fight to fix America’s corrupt political system and ensure the government is accountable to its people. Our 2024 impact report tells the full story.
Here are some highlights of what we accomplished this year.
17 Policy Victories
We achieved significant victories across the country, advancing anti-corruption measures, voting reform, and democracy defense initiatives. Some highlights include:
- Cracking Down on Corruption: Voters in Maine approved a measure to limit contributions to super PACs, and voters in Florida defeated an attempt to roll back its public campaign finance program
- Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) Expansion & Defense: Richmond, CA and Washington D.C. voted to adopt the popular reform while Alaska, Georgia, Utah, and Bloomington, MN voted to keep using it
- Stopping Gerrymandering: Voters in Los Angeles approved Measure DD, creating an independent redistricting commission to draw fairer voting maps
- Democracy Defense: Arizona voters defeated four different attempts to rewrite the state’s constitution
Activating Our Advocates
Thanks to the dedicated RepresentUs volunteers, we were able to expand our reach and influence like never before:
- 3.1 million voters in key states heard from our volunteers about important issues before the election
- 6.7 Million texts and calls made by our volunteers across the country
- 84 people from 28 states went through our Campaign Catalyst training programs to get tools they need to run winning campaigns in their communities
Innovative Advocacy Campaigns
Going into this year’s election, experts identified the need to raise public awareness about AI-powered deepfakes that might be used to trick Americans about the time, manner, and place of voting
With celebrity support from Katy Perry, Chris Rock, Orlando Bloom and others, our AI deepfake Public Service Announcement (PSA) reached more than 6.6 million views in key states through platforms like Instagram and YouTube, and garnered 1.8 billion impressions from news coverage
Defending Democracy: Success Stories
- Arizona: When politicians backed by special interests tried to rewrite the state’s constitution, voters decisively rejected all four ballot measures. Our volunteers sent over 2 million texts and we drove 350,000 impressions through timely social campaigns to protect voter power in the state.
- Alaska: Alaskans upheld Ranked Choice Voting in the face of attacks, narrowly defeating repeal efforts by fewer than 700 votes. We reached 81,000 key voters and invested heavily in educational content for Alaska.
- Los Angeles: Leaked audio revealed city council members’ attempts to manipulate voting maps for personal gain. With a 75% majority, voters approved Measure DD, establishing an independent commission to redraw fairer districts.
Our movement is about ensuring that our government works for “We the People”, and not just for the well-connected few. And, in spite of enormous obstacles, our movement had a record-breaking year in 2024 to fix our corrupt system and make America work for the people.
