He lied to justify ICE’s killings of American citizens
Since President Trump launched his immigration crackdown, immigration agents have opened fire 23 times and held bystanders or protesters at gunpoint in at least 43 incidents. Six people have been killed and twelve more injured.
These incidents are part of a dangerous and growing pattern of brutality and intimidation by ICE And other DHS agencies, with no accountability.
But instead of pushing for much-needed reform and accountability at ICE and DHS, Markwayne Mullin lied about the victims of two high-profile killings in Minneapolis, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, to claim the use of lethal force was justified.
He is an election denier who could influence the 2026 election
If confirmed, he would oversee DHS as it expands its role in elections through the SAVE Program, a controversial system that is already wrongly flagging U.S. citizens as ineligible to vote.
Markwayne Mullin was among the lawmakers who voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, and he has amplified President Trump’s false claims of fraud in that election.
Putting him in charge of an agency that will play a key role in determining who can vote raises serious concerns about how he would use that power as the midterms approach.
Markwayne Mullin is not the change we need at DHS
If confirmed, Mullin would:
- Lead an agency already accused of widespread abuse, violence, and misconduct
- Oversee a flawed system that is wrongly purging voters
- Hold influence over election processes ahead of a critical midterm
Your Senators are about to vote on his confirmation and they need to hear from you that he is an unacceptable pick to lead DHS.
