Tell Congress: Get Real Answers About DHS and ICE

URGENT: Tuesday at 10am ET, the House Committee on Homeland Security will hold an oversight hearing on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE.

Across the country, what we’re seeing from DHS and ICE operations is unacceptable:

Federal agents operating masked and unidentified
State and local law enforcement denied access to crime scenes
Agents acting with minimal training and no judicial warrants
Conflicting accounts about who authorized what
A growing track record of abuse with no real investigations

Your Member of Congress has a responsibility to hold executive branch agencies accountable. At this hearing, lawmakers must ask tough questions and demand clear answers:

Why are agents allowed to hide their identities behind masks, unmarked cars, and no badges?
What roles are Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller playing in shaping or directing DHS actions that have led to abuse? And why did they lie about recent abuses, including the killing of Alex Pretti?
Why has state law enforcement been blocked from accessing crime scenes involving DHS or ICE personnel?
Who gave the orders allowing ICE agents to violate the Fourth Amendment and operate without judicial warrants?
Why is DHS requesting more money before existing abuses are independently and thoroughly investigated and addressed?

Tell your Member of Congress: no more funding for DHS until we have transparency, oversight, and accountability.

To my Member of Congress,

I’m writing ahead of the House Homeland Security Committee’s DHS oversight hearing to urge you to demand real answers and to oppose any additional funding for DHS until there is accountability.

Across the country, DHS and ICE agents are operating masked and unidentified, denying state and local authorities access to crime scenes, and asserting the power to act without judicial warrants. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and White House advisor Stephen Miller have repeatedly lied about abuses, including the killing of Alex Pretti at the hands of DHS agents. There are conflicting accounts of who authorized these actions and a long record of abuses that have not been meaningfully investigated.

At this hearing, Congress must ask tough questions and hold DHS leadership to account for the abuses committed on their watch. It should not settle for symbolic actions.

DHS already has massive funding. Congress should not approve another dollar until there is real transparency, oversight, and accountability.

Please use the upcoming hearings to do your job and hold DHS accountable.
