Vote by Mail is safe and secure and it gives us more options. It ensures that even when we get sick, can’t find childcare, or are trying to avoid the polls during a pandemic, we can still exercise our right to vote.
So, here’s how it works:
Step 1)
You get mailed a ballot.
Step 2)
You can take your time with it, do your research, at your kitchen table, with your family.
Step 3)
Mail it back postage free before election day, or, drop it off at a secure “lock box” or polling station.
It’s really that simple.
Plus, if you lose your ballot or decide you’d prefer to vote in person, can still go to the polls. But this way, it’s your choice. No waiting. No rushing. No hackable electronic voting machines. Just you and your ballot.
It’s more secure, because there’s a literal paper trail, and all ballots are counted in one centralized secure location overseen by judges. It fights fraud with barcodes and duplicates.
And just like our military serving overseas, you can mark your second and third choice, so your ballot isn’t wasted if your first choice drops out.
This is called Ranked Choice Voting, btw.
And the states that have implemented this? They see a higher turnout every year. Meaning more votes cast, more people heard from, and a more representative process. It’s a win, win, win!
