From March 15 – March 23, Congress is in recess—meaning lawmakers are back in their home districts. Traditionally, they use this time to meet with constituents, engage with the community, and hold public events.
But during this recess, party bosses are actively directing legislators to avoid1 engaging with constituents at town halls.
With questions around big money corrupting our politics, democracy under attack from within, economic upheaval, and federal restructuring, now is not the time for hiding. Members of Congress should hear directly from the people who elected them.
