Tell Your Senator: The “Big Beautiful Bill” is Ugly & Corrupt

🚨A massive bill called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act just passed the House and now it’s under review by the Senate.

Don’t be fooled. Behind the name is a thousand-page monster filled with corrupt, anti-democratic provisions:

Attacks on Checks & Balances
The bill blocks federal courts from holding government officials in contempt even if they violate judicial orders. Without the power to hold government actors in contempt when the court’s orders are violated, the orders cannot be enforced. That means less accountability for powerful politicians^[1].

A Gift to Big Tech Donors: A 10-year ban on AI regulation
States and cities would be banned from enforcing their own AI rules just as AI deepfakes are exploding and becoming a major threat to election integrity^[2]. Who benefits? Big Tech donors.

A Power Grab that Stomps on States’ Rights
Over 20 states^[3] already have laws to stop AI election misinformation. This bill undermines a state’s right to govern within its borders and would allow fake political content to spread unchecked.

Let’s be clear: This bill is an attack on the balance of powers and a gift to Big Tech.

It attacks the power of the courts, one of the few institutions effectively restricting power grabs, and it’s a return on investment for the hundreds of millions that Big Tech pumped into the Trump administration. Dear Senator,

As your constituent, I urge you to reject the anti-democratic and corrupt provisions inside H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, specifically these sections from the House reconciliation bill:

Section 70302 that would severely restrict federal courts’ authority to hold government officials in contempt if they violate judicial orders.

Section 43201(c) that would impose a 10-year ban on the enforcement of all state and local laws that regulate artificial intelligence (AI), including rules for AI’s use in political campaigns and elections

The Courts are there to protect us from power grabs and Executive Branch overreaches and this provision is a direct attack on our system of Checks and Balances.

And the AI provisions are a gift to Big Tech donors, an attack on a state’s right to govern within its borders (more than 20 states have already enacted laws to address election misinformation and manipulation made easy by new AI tools), and a danger to our democracy as ten years of unfettered AI will lead to fake content that misleads voters about candidates or issues on their ballot.

I urge you to withhold your vote until these provisions are removed or offer amendments to address them.
