The President of the United States is attempting a political coup d’etat in plain sight. This is not speculation or partisanship. It’s fact.

President Trump is attempting to compel election officials in the key swing states, including Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, to block certification of ballots, run out the clock, and appoint alternate electors to the Electoral College. We responded with a full page ad in the Detroit Free Press.

This effort threatens to overturn the will of the people. If the leader of another country was trying to steal an election, we’d call it a coup. That’s exactly what we should be calling it here in the U.S.

Our democracy is fragile, and it must be defended.
