The group, Americans for Prosperity, is funded by the billionaire Koch brothers, and it just filed a lawsuit to stop the "End Dark Money" law from going into effect.
The "End Dark Money" law stops secret money, so voters can see who's trying to influence election outcomes and who a candidate might be beholden to when they take office. The law passed with bipartisan support. But the Koch brothers' dark money group doesn't want transparency, so they're trying to undo it.
We've seen this happen before: In Michigan, the Chamber of Commerce sued to stop voters from passing anti-gerrymandering reform. We fought back and stopped them. Every time our movement wins, politicians and big-money interests will challenge us to protect the corrupt status quo. But if we fight back, we can stop them.
