RepresentUs and the Unite America Fund awarding grants to nonpartisan campaigns focused on strengthening democracy
March 1, 2021 (Washington, D.C.): RepresentUs and the Unite America Fund are proud to announce the second round of Campaign Accelerator Awards, providing seed grants of approximately $25,000 each along with in-kind strategic support to the nation’s most promising nonpartisan ballot initiatives and legislative campaigns that increase competition, participation, and accountability in the political system.
The Accelerator Awards support ballot initiatives or lobbying efforts to pass state and local reform laws, including Ranked Choice Voting, open primaries, vote by mail, and anti-gerrymandering. Recent winning campaigns in Alaska and Virginia are models of the type of campaigns the awards are intended to help seed. The groups are looking for grantees that demonstrate potential to become a viable campaign by the end of 2021 to pass laws through ballot measures or legislative campaigns between 2022 and 2024.

The movement to put voters first is gearing up across the country to pass long overdue reforms. These awards provide crucial initial support to aspiring campaigns,” said RepresentUs Political Director Dan Krassner.
“Our political system is broken and the solution is policy change that puts voters first. That’s why we are doubling down to scale and accelerate momentum by significantly increasing investment into advocacy efforts across the country,” said Nick Troiano, Executive Director of Unite America.

To date, the movement to put voters first has passed more than 120 transformative laws and resolutions in cities and states across the country.
